East Granby Parks & Recreation is excited to offer a winter bridge program for our current program participants. This four-week, goal-oriented program will focus on the fundamentals of distance running to further develop a solid running foundation as it relates to all sports.

We will continue to further develop proper running form, key strength training exercises, pre/post workout stretching techniques, proper nutrition, and self-care for all athletes. Participants will also continue to build character skills, such as good sportsmanship, perseverance, keeping a positive attitude, setting, and achieving goals, and understanding the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

The program will run Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (except where listed below) from Monday, November 13, 2023 - Friday, December 8, 2023.

Please note: This is a rain or shine program, we will run/train in the rain or snow. Thunder or a blizzard is the only exception that would keep us indoors.

Participation in competitive meets is encouraged, but not required. Race schedule/events are as follows:

Saturday, 11/18: “Run to Remember”, 5k at Suffield Town Green at 10am. Registration is free for this event. The registration link for this event is:

Saturday, 11/25: ODO Gobbler 5k Run and Ruck in Glastonbury at 10 am. Registration fee is $40, and registration needs to be completed by 11/12. Link to register:

Thursday, 11/30: Thursday, “EORC Cross Country Race at Ashley Reservoir”, Holyoke, MA, 630-8 pm. Registration Fee: under 17: free, 17+ $7.00 (This race is with Coach Jen and requires her permission to ensure your child is ready to participate in this event. This is a fabulous course and is at night. It will be an amazing opportunity for those who are interested. Headlamps are required.)

Saturday, 12/3: “HMF Blueback Mitten Run” in West Hartford at 10 a.m. Registration Fee: $20 (ages 5-17), and $36 (18+). Must register by 11/18 to ensure entry as this event fills quickly. Link to Register:

Friday, 12/8: “End of Season Awards and Holiday Party”, 2:08 pm (from school) until 5 pm at the Farms. More details to follow and families are welcome to attend.

After-school transportation will be provided from East Granby Middle School to East Granby Farms for EGMS students enrolled in the program on practice days. Families are responsible for pickup promptly at the end of each practice, at East Granby Farms (79 North Main Street).
