Summer Cross Country Training Program

Is your child participating in Cross Country this fall or an aspiring cross country or track runner? Off season training can be difficult during the summer months when teams are not in practice or no formal training programs are available. Those who have students participating in a formal Cross Country program know that their child should be running over the summer to ensure they are prepared for their upcoming fall season. Many coaches will provide their teams with a training schedule to follow during the summer months, however, as most parents know, getting their young runners to follow that schedule can be quite difficult during the lazy days of summer.

TheTotalRunner is pleased to offer this new program to help bridge the gap between the end of the school year and the start of their upcoming season in a more structured and formalized manner. This ten-week program utilizes the off-season training plan as provided by most Coaches. Participants will follow the off-season training program provided by either their own Coaches (should this be required) or the off-season training program provided by theTotalRunner which will focus on speedwork, interval training, and mileage building. A custom training program will be developed and designed for the specific needs and abilities of your youth runner. The program offers two group runs each week that will focus on running fundamentals and individual needs.Students will gain access to their training plan through Final Surge and follow the schedule provided daily for their workouts. Training for this platform will be provided. This will provide your child with the accountability they need to ensure their runs/workouts are completed and they will receive feedback based on the information they provide about the runs they performed. An end of season report will be provided to your child’s coach (where applicable) as necessary.

For those who are new to the sport of Cross Country or who have participated in previous Cross Country/ Track programs with theTotalRunner, their training plan will continue from their last season and will work to further develop and prepare your child for participation in a formal team. Participation in group sessions is not required, and runs can be done autonomously under my guidance. I will also provide flexibility with past participants in my programs for group training days. Registration Fee: $130.
Session 1: Tuesday and Friday 5:30- 7pm from June 28th -September 2nd, 2022
