East Granby Youth Services is excited to share information about a leadership opportunity for you for the 2025-2026 school year.

The Middle School Youth Action Council (YAC) is an opportunity for middle schoolers to develop their leadership skills and be involved in the East Granby community through team building, training, community service and educational and social projects.  The group is open to all those East Granby Residents in Grades 6-8.

The program is designed for young people who are learning to become leaders. You will explore what it means to be a leader, how to be a positive group member, and the importance of personal responsibility, communication, and project and program management. You’ll also learn how to actively contribute to your community. Throughout the program, you will be encouraged to try new things, challenge yourself, and take on new roles all while discovering more about who you are and how to grow as a leader.

The Middle School YAC had a productive and impactful 2024-2025 year. The group created and implemented a mentorship program with 3rd graders at R.D. Seymour School and developed the Earth Day Celebration. They also hosted the annual Great Skate event and learned about local organizations such as the Veterans Group and Nourish My Soul. In addition, members volunteered at multiple town events, including the Town Halloween, Holiday Tree Lighting, and Easter celebrations. They also contributed their time at the Friend-to-Friend Food Pantry.
