Tennis - Fall Lessons (K-5)

Lessons are designed for beginner/intermediate level players.
Players are grouped with children their own age for social comfort. Lessons will cover basic forehand and backhand ground strokes, volley and approach shots, overhead serves, court awareness, footwork, scoring, and playing games. Instructor will adjust drills and skills for all participants.
When:
Lessons will run Tuesdays and Thursdays, September 24 - October 10 (with 10/15 and 10/17 being makeup days in case of weather cancellation).
Grades K - 3: 4:00 - 4:45 pm
Grades 3 - 5: 4:45 - 5:30 pm
Where:
Lessons will be held on the tennis courts at East Granby High School (95 South Main Street).
What to bring:
Participants should bring an appropriately sized tennis racket, lots of drinking water, and a towel, tie up long hair, and wear appropriate footwear and a hat. Practice balls will be provided. If you do not own a racket, the instructor will have some for children to borrow.
About the instructor:
Ms. Kelly Berry has been a certified member of the United States Professional Tennis Association for over 40 years. She was a coach at Miss Porters School for 10 years, Assistant Coach at Trinity college for 2 years, and has been the longtime Director of Tennis at Moving on Up with Tennis and Education - a non-profit program in Springfield, MA. She was the Assistant Director of Tennis at the Judy Dixon Tennis Camp for Women for 20 years and has taught at several town programs and private country clubs over the years. Currently, she is a teaching professional at Simsmore Tennis in Simsbury. She has been nationally ranked in her age group in women’s doubles and ranked in New England in singles and doubles over the years.
